Since it was approved, what are the pros and cons of the 9 period schedule next year? Which one do you prefer?

“I don’t like the nine period schedule because you only have a forty five minute time period to do things and that’s not enough time. Then you have to go to another class after and retain all of that information from one day from each of the classes. However the AB schedule is split up so you get less work with more time to do it and then you have more time in class to do stuff instead. I honestly can’t think of any positives to the nine period schedule at the moment.” – Sofia Diblasi, Class of 2023

“The pros to the 9 block schedule is that you do more things throughout the day and have more passing time and classes would be shorter. However, the cons of that are that I feel like during 2 hour scheduling is that you can get a lot more done in your classes. I like the block scheduling better because with it there seems like there is less to attack and is less overwhelming for me. It is exhausting.” – Chloe Harris, Class of 2023

“Pros: you see your the same teachers everyday, this will help you not forget the material they were teaching you the class before; you get to have a longer lunch. Cons: Class moves to fast, you may not have enough time to do your classwork, you have less homework each day. I prefer the block schedule for these same reasons.” – Matthew Rostkowski, Class of 2022

“The cons are that students will have to focus more in class because they have less class time each day. The pros are that if students have any questions regarding class, they will see the teacher every day.” – Joey Brooker, Class of 2022

“Some pros are that you get a whole period for lunch, some cons are that you don’t actually have the time to do work in class– with the A-B you get more time in a period — I like the A-B more.” -Danny Roach, Class of 2024

“I think the pros are that we get to have shorter class periods so it’s easier to focus and you’re not stuck in the classroom all day, but the cons are that it’s gonna be a lot of workload and you’re gonna have to do a lot of homework. I prefer the A and B schedule because it’s easier for me to get my homework done and I think that we’re not switching out of subjects too fast every 40 minutes so we get to stay engaged longer.” – Arianna Borukhovich, Class of 2024

“The pros of a block schedule are more time to do homework and more study hall time to get homework done and with the other schedule there is an increased amount of homework leading to increased stress. With a lot more content it is difficult to learn also. There is less study hall
time as well…Block Schedule 100%” – Endi Bregu, Class of 2024

“The pros are it will determine you to do your homework the same day you get it since you will have the same class the next day, you will be more motivated, and you get to study more since it’s all 9 periods every single day. The cons are you don’t get much of a break or really no time to goof around “”I like the 4 block schedule but I feel it’s too long for each period so I would prefer the 9 period schedule. I think it’d be a good impact.” -Albina Kerci, Class of [Unknown]

“I think that with quizzes we got used to having a lot of time to take a quiz so having it back to taking a quiz in 42 minutes is going to be hard and I think that the art teachers are going to have a hard time getting everything done in the short amount of time. I don’t think there are any pros to the nine period schedule. I think block scheduling is better.” – Rachael King, Class of 2022

“I do not see any pros to switching to the 9 period schedule, I only see cons because I will have to complete the homework everyday instead of every other day because I have all of my classes everyday. I will also have to see my teachers everyday and sometimes that is annoying.” -Alen Becirovic, Class of 2023
