The Rocky Hill High School Terriers football team lost this past Thursday against the Avon Falcons, 21 to 46.
The game was a battle between the quarterbacks with Rocky Hill’s Tyriece Dominique scoring 3 rushing touchdowns and Avon’s Tabor Engle scoring 5.
The game was close early on, and the Terriers were down just one score going into the half 7-15, with Dominique ending the second quarter with a near 50 yard run to put the Terriers on the scoreboard.
But the Falcons came out swinging after halftime, with the Terriers not being able to stop Engle and the Falcon’s two touchdowns in the third quarter and not scoring any points of their own.
That was a story all night though, Engle’s size and running abilities in respect to the Falcon’s blocking made it a tough matchup for Terriers to stop. Senior Salvatore Signorello emphasized this in stating how, “Stopping their unique offense was the hardest part [of the game].”
Dominique rushed for two impressive touchdowns in the fourth but it was too little too late, and the Falcons walked away having won quite handedly 46 to 21.
The Terriers have their final game of the season is Nov. 24 against their cross town rival the Cromwell Panthers.
Signorello made clear that in order to perform against the 9-0 Panthers, the team needs to continue to, “…practice hard during the week and keep to the assignments.”
For the Terriers and Sal, they have one goal in mind on the 24th: “to win.”
