After a tough loss against Notre Dame Fairfield and COVID-19 troubles, the Terriers have rebounded with a 28 to 7 win against the Farmington Riverhawks.

Senior and starting quarterback, Tyreice Dominique, put the team on the scoreboard first with a 35 yd run on Rocky Hill’s opening drive. Kicker and punter, Brody Troiano showed no weakness after nailing the extra point giving the Terriers the early lead.

Powerful defense and foul trouble from both teams created a scoring stalemate for the duration of the first half.

The third quarter was rife with exciting plays with junior MJ Torres running for 40 yds for his first touchdown of the season. The Farmington quickly responded with a touchdown of their own, after running back Luke Watson ran for over 65 yds to the endzone. The Riverhawks hoped to capitalize off their first points but was no match for the enduring strength and power of the Terriers.

In the following drive, Dominique was rapid in rallying his team as he ran for 60 yds for another Terriers touchdown. Rocky Hill’s offensive line set up a generous gap to break through Farmington’s defensive line allowing for such an impressive play.

Farmington’s offense seemed to be on a roll until Ryan Bozzi successfully prevented the further advancing Riverhawks into Rocky Hill territory after recovering a fumble around the 35 yard line.

With this turnover, and quick rushing attempts, Rocky Hill was nearing another touchdown. They were able to complete a risky but calculated play early in the fourth quarter that saw Dominique make a successful pass to wide receiver Frankie Guerrera.

Sean Asante and MJ Torres later helped to conclude the game by rushing plays to run out the clock to give the terriers a solid 28-7 victory over the Riverhawks.

Asante, who is a captain, cited “the mix of (the) offensive and defense because defensively we definitely made a lot of stops that could’ve turned into some touchdowns… if we didn’t keep them in their place… And offensively.. Whenever our receivers got the ball or even when MJ got the ball, we ran hard for as many yards as we could.” (for the Terrier’s win today).”

Rocky Hill made numerous improvements from their previous game as Troiano also made every extra point attempt and had plenty of successful punts.

The RHHS cheerleaders contributed in exciting and energizing a smaller but enthusiastic crowd of parents and spectators.

In a postgame interview Rocky Hill Football head Coach Dance said, “…we did our job today. We played well on offensive, defense, and special teams, which was our goal.” He also emphasized the difficulties and challenges the team would face next week’s opponent.

Rocky Hill now has the same number of wins as it did in the past two regular seasons combined and they are hoping to use use this momentum in their upcoming game against undefeated Bloomfield.
